Welcome to Stage Briefs!
What is Stage Briefs?
As a fellow theatre enthusiast, I’m thrilled to welcome you to Stage Briefs, where theatre-lovers and knowledge-seekers get “briefed” on everything from current shows to theatre history. I started this site to give readers a destination for theatre happenings and resources in “brief” form, providing recaps and snippets of the world of theatre, which will hopefully inspire readers to learn more and visit our favorite sites and blogs for even more detailed info!
Each week, I’ll post Weekly Briefs – recapping news and events around the globe. Within Resources, I’ll update Broadway Briefs and Who’s Who regularly – so readers are constantly learning about need-to-know shows and “who’s who” of the stage. I’m also excited to share Page to Stage – where I’ll be reading and briefing readers on a play or musical each week – adding to our ever-growing directory.
I know our site will grow and change in ways I can’t even imagine yet. Please reach out with questions or suggestions anytime. And don’t forget to join the newsletter for updates! I’m excited to share this journey with you!
Who’s behind the Stage Briefs site?
Hi! My name is Jaclyn Horbal and I live just across the pond (or Hudson River) from New York City in the lovely “Garden State” that is New Jersey. I’m lucky enough to be able to frequent shows on Broadway, at our regional theaters, and really, wherever I can!
I graduated from NYU, having studied acting at the Stella Adler Conservatory and musical theatre at the Collaborative Arts Project 21. After graduated, I spent an unforgettable summer studying Shakespeare at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, then went on to work for the Philadelphia Shakespeare Festival and Hillcrest Center for the Arts in California (my beautiful home state), before returning to New York to work at American Theatre Magazine and the Play Group Theatre – an incredible children’s theatre just 30 minutes north of NYC. I love being behind the scenes, creating theatre and being surrounded by passionate theatre friends.
Currently, my main role in theatre is as a theatre-goer and blog reader, constantly looking for new opportunities to see shows and reveling in the moments I’m part of the audience – often with my husband and two girls. I love sharing the magic of the stage with them any chance I can.
There is truly “no place like home” in the theatre!
